Dr. Donna M. Pierce

Dr. Donna M. Pierce of the Department of Physics and Astronomy is the head of the project (Principal Investigator).  She conducts research in planetary astronomy and teaches both physics and astronomy courses ranging from introductory to advanced.  She is motivated to do the Noyce scholarship project at MSU to alleviate serious disparities in math and science readiness she has witnessed in the students taking the introductory courses she teaches.

Dr. Dana Franz

Dr. Dana Franz

Dr. Dana Franz is one of the Co-Principal Investigators on the project.  She is a professor of mathematics education in the College of Education and is also currently working at the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness. She brings valuable expertise on mathematics and rural education to the Noyce project and is also conducting research on rural education that will be used to inform our project.

Dr. Mohammad Sepehrifar

Dr. Mohammad Sepehrifar

Dr. Mohammad Sepehrifar is another Co-Principal Investigator.  He is a professor of statistics in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.  Using his expertise in mathematics and artificial intelligence, he will be leading instruction on interdisciplinary thinking using mathematics and helping students learn how to use AI generative tools for lesson planning and customization.
